Open call Cirque Numerique 2024

09.01.2024

Announcement

On 26, 27 and 28 July 2024, the Grootseminarie (Major Seminary) in Bruges will open its doors to Cirque Plus. For 3 full days, artists from both home and abroad will take over the most welcoming garden in Bruges, bringing with them the best of what circus has to offer today. Cirque Plus is an open-air circus festival and a springboard for new circus talent. Our ‘Cirque Numerique’ event offers short, complete “numbers” (short circus acts) a place of their own within the festival programme.

These artists have made their way onto our Cirque Numerique stage: Aurelie Tercier (FR), Batist Van Baekel (BE), Duo n’Joy (BE), Trio Fullfa (BE), Fleur Perneel (BE), Duo Hopscotsch (UK), Meike Schnapper (DE), Amélie Degrande (FR), Cie. Faisca (IT/FI), Duo-NU (BE), Hannah Finn (US), Manon Verplancke (BE) and Cie. ‘waarom nie?’ (BE).

What does Cirque Plus offer?

  • A daily allowance of € 300 per artist per performance day and a fixed transport allowance of € 50 for artists travelling in Belgium or max € 100 for those travelling from abroad. Healthy catering is provided.
  • If really necessary, an overnight stay can be provided.
  • A professional organization and facilities.
  • A (10 x 10 m) performance area and a sound system.
  • The performances take place during the day and in the open air, so lighting is not provided. We do consider specific technical requests wherever possible.
  • The performer brings all other equipment (scenery, props, costumes ... / aerial acts provide their own equipment) needed to perform the act.
  • The performances are included in the festival programme and presented on the ‘Cirque Numerique’ performance area between or during the other performances at the festival.
  • There is a prize for the best act. A (professional) jury will judge the acts during the festival. The winner will get to perform as a supporting act for the circus tour of "Uitwijken Brugge" (July 2025 – www.uitwijken.be)
  • We have an enthusiastic and varied audience and offer networking opportunities with artists and professionals from the circus industry.
